History is on repeat, and things
didn't go so well the last time.

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday - to her awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training" - which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time - she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than fate...

Warning: There are some spoilers in this review.

Wow! Jennifer you just keep blowing my mind more and more as you go along with this series. I liked Half-Blood well enough and Pure stepped it up another notch. But you have just hit it out of the ballpark with Deity. You are the freaking Queen of suspense and know how to keep your readers hanging onto every word until your ready to give us all what we are craving. I absolutely loved this book, but oh how you broke my heart at the end of it. And now I can't freaking wait for the release of Apollyon. Which doesn't even release until April 09, 2013, oh the torture.

The worlds of Alex, Aiden and Seth have only gotten crazier since the end of Pure. Alex is constantly worrying that the truth of what happened in the Catskills will come to the surface and mean the end of not only her but of her beloved Aiden as well. But not only this it seems that there are quite a few people out there that are after her blood, trying to make sure that she never makes it to her eighteen birthday and ultimately her awakening as the second coming of the Apollyon. And to even further her stress, it seems the marks of the Apollyon are appearing on her faster and faster, making it seem like her awakening will occur even before her eighteenth birthday. Could life get any better? Life is just not going so well for her.

While she is trying to deal with these three things, she gets a letter from Laadan revealing a shocking truth. One that almost brings Alex to her knees, or at least into Aiden's arms. But how does Seth feel about this? After all Alex did promise to give Aiden up and try and make things work with Seth. And when Seth is forced to leave back to the Catskills with Lucien, what will happen with Alex and Aiden, now that there is no Seth there to monitor Alex's actions?

However, while Seth is away, Alex is under 24-hour surveillance after an encounter with Minister Telly. But this does not stop the attack on Alex or her... death. That is until Apollo saves her from Hades clutches. But not before she meets up with Caleb in the underworld and he brings her grim tidings about Seth. But what does it all mean? The god's have finally revealed themselves to their offspring's children (their grandkids.... lol) and this can only mean one thing. Things are only going to get crazier from here on out. And what did Caleb mean about Seth? Because Alex cannot quite remember the full warning.

As the book goes along, we find Alex being hidden away by her Uncle and Aiden. Away from Seth that is. But Alex and Aiden alone in a house together, well.... I will leave it up to your imagination about what happened. Until Apollo pops in on Alex and departs some simple advice to her:

"I know what's happened," Apollo said after a few seconds.

My brows furrowed. "What are you talking about?"

He nodded at the board.

My gaze dropped to the game and I nearly passed out. He'd spelled SEX and AIDEN with those stupid little squares. Horrified, I shot to my knees and swept the letters off the board. "I- I have no idea what you're talking about!"

Apollo tipped his head back and laughed, like, chortled really loudly.

Apollo is a god after all. There is not much that he's does not know. The above scene would definitely have to be one of my favorite's from Deity. From this scene on the rest of the book just goes from intense... to INSANE! And I couldn't put it down. There is soooo much that happens in the last parts of the book that if you blink you would miss something important. But at the same time, while Jennifer reveals so much to us, she also brings around a whole new set of unanswered questions for us. Your minds are going to be thoroughly blown with this book.

Overall, I absolutely adored this new addition to the Covenant Series. I loved how Jennifer made the gods and goddesses so relatable and almost human like. That is not something I have found in practically any book that has a god or goddess in it. Usually they are stuck up and talk in riddles that thoroughly confuse the heck out of me. And I love the progression between Alex and Aiden's relationship. As well as the almost "fatherly" concern Apollo seems to show upon Alex, even while he is aloof at the same time.

When November 06, rolls around, everyone that hasn't gotten their hands on this book, will be missing out on one heck of a ride. This is definitely a must read. It's a book that I read in one day and only a very select handful of books can boast about making that list.

Now it's time for the Author Interview:

First, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm the USA TODAY Best-Selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout. I'm the author of the Covenant and Lux Series, Cursed and the forthcoming novels Obsession, Don't Look Back and yet untitled YA novel. I'm also known as author J. Lynn, where I write adult romance.

1. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I've tried to outline before. It didn't go so well, so I just write.

2. What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
Hmm, that's a tough question. Criticism is, well, criticism. Most of the time, it's actually beneficial and can help you improve as an author. It's almost always hard to swallow, but you do swallow it, and take it for what it's worth. The best compliment is hearing from readers when they say they forgot about what was going on in their lives while they were reading my books. That is super awesome to hear.

3. Who is harder to write about? Aiden or Seth?
Aiden. He's a very layered character. While Seth is more fun to write, I have to take my time with Aiden.

4. Is there anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
That I love them? And that I'm so glad they enjoy reading my books.

5. Did you ever imagine that your Covenant Series would become so popular and loved by readers?
I don't think so. Starting out and through most of your career as an author, you're thrilled if five people are reading your stuff. So to know that there are a lot of people out there reading it blows my mind. I honestly haven't wrapped my head around it.

What is your favorite:

Pepsi or Coke?
Oh, this is so funny, because I have friends who live in Georgia (Coca Cola land) and if you say Pepsi, they flip out and act like you just punt-kicked a baby. So, I'm going to go with Pepsi.

Raspberry or Banana?
Banana. I don't think I've ever ate a raspberry before.

Just for fun:

How much wood would a Woodchuck chuck if a Woodchuck could chuck wood?
It would wood chuck a lot of wood.

Thank you so much for the amazing interview Jennifer.

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout lives in West Virginia. All the rumors you've heard about her state aren't true. Well, mostly. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write. She shares her home with her husband, his K-9 partner named Diesel, and her hyper Jack Russell Loki. Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent her time writing short stories...therefore explaining her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes Adult and Young Adult Urban Fantasy and Romance. She is represented by Kevan Lyon of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.
