Follow Friday (35)

Is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This is a blog hop for bloggers to get to know other bloggers, & to help some gain more of a following and support system for their blog. It looks like it should be a lot of fun. To join in, go to the host's page and follow the steps they have posted up there. =D

Some music is provided for you at the bottom. For you enjoyment. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

This week's question is...

What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

Mm.... This is a funny question in fact. Because just today I had to give up on a book and I almost NEVER do that. I think the only thing that is a real deal breaker for me is if I have absolutely NO interest in the book. In what is going on, if I feel no drive to really even care about finding out what is going on or what is going to happen later on in in the book. Then it just makes it feel like reading the book is a chore or an obligation and that's not why I read books. I read them to get lost in them or, for their ability to weave a spell around me and for me to forget about my own problems for a little while. And putting aside that book today almost broke my heart because I hate having to give up on a book.

And just like Alison said, I hate the common place, insta-love and love triangles. But as long as the story itself is good, I can usually look past all of this. If not then I tend to just start skimming a book. Because all together I think there is only 2 series I have ever given up on, out of the tons of series I have read.

What are deal breakers for you when it comes to books?

Dirty Little Secret - All American Rejects
This song keeps being mentioned in the book I'm currently reading.
Got it stuck in my head now.... LOL.

I completely agree! The story has to hold some sort of interest for me, otherwise what is the point? I too don't like to give up on books, but unfortunately there are some that feel more like homework, and I get enough of that in school. New Follower GFC! Check out my FF at

Agreed! It all comes down to subjective taste and if you don't care, well then you...don't care. Great answer. Old follower via GFC. My FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday! :D

I almost never give up on books either, they have to be pretty bad.

@Danielle: Exactly. If you have no interest in it, there is no point in reading it.

@Liesel: Yea, everyone's different. So one book that someone may LOVE another reader my highly DISLIKE.

@Lectus: Thank you.

@The Book Blondes: Yea, it hurts me inside when I have to just give up on a book. I will always try and make a good effort to read it, or at least finish it. I think I have only ever fully given up on 2 books. And that's just simply because I didn't care.

Agreed! If there is no interest there is no point continuing. :/

New Follower via GFC. Would love for you to stop by my blog and check it out. :)

@Christine: Exactly. It just sucks because I used to love that series, now I just... don't care. =[
